A place of exceptional beauty, Zion National Park has many aspects. Hikers should be prepared for a wide range of weather conditions. Temperatures vary with changes in elevation, and day/night temperatures may differ by over 30 degrees F.Spring -- Weather is very unpredictable. Stormy, wet days are common, but warm, sunny weather may occur too. Precipitation peaks in March. Spring wildflowers bloom from April through June, peaking in May. Summer -- Days are hot (95-105 degrees F), but overnight lows are usually confortable (65-70 degrees F). Afternoon thunderstorms are common from mid-July through mid-September. Storms may produce waterfalls as well as flash floods. Minimize lightning dangers by avoiding exposed canyon rims and high points. Do not take shelter under lone trees. |

Fall -- Days are usually clear and mild; nights are often cool. Autumn color displays begin in September in the high country (Cedar Breaks, Lava Point). Colors in Zion Canyon usually peak in late October.

Winter -- Winters in Zion Canyon are fairly mild. Winter storms often bring rain or light snow to Zion Canyon, but heavier snow to the higher elevations. Clear days may become quite warm, reaching 60 degrees F or higher; nights are often in the 20's and 30's.

| Archeological Site Etiquette: Archeological sites are fragile and extremely vulnerable resources which must be treated with care. They are available for visitors to see and enjoy, but need your protection to preserve them for the future. |
| Please do not collect artifacts (ceramic sherds, flakes and rock pieces, ets.), either for your own use or to turn in to park employees. When visiting an archeological site, please be aware of your impact on the site. Take as many photos as you wish, but do not place artifacts in piles in order to get a photograph. |
